Access Instructions for Users with Disabilities

Welcome to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) World Wide Web Site. CDE incorporates into its web site the Web Accessibility Guidelines developed by the Governor's Office of Innovation and Technology (OIT). We are pleased to provide an alternative medium for accessing information about our programs and services. If you have any suggestions for improving the accessibility features of our web site, please contact CDE Web Support Services.

Instructions for Users with Visual Disabilities

The CDE web site has been designed to be used with a screen reader. For instance, all images on our web site are accompanied by a word image tag that may be visible if your browser supports the alt-text function.

In addition, CDE will begin to provide descriptions of photographs that contribute to the content of the web page. By selecting the symbol "D" the user will reach a description of the photograph. At the end of the description the user can select "Return" to be taken back to the photograph.

Example: [photograph] D.

If a web page has an on-line form that is not accessible, please call the phone number or e-mail the office listed for assistance in obtaining the form or filling it out.

Instructions for Users Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

The OIT Web Accessibility Guidelines require that all audio and video clips have text transcriptions or descriptions with a closed-captioned (CC) hyperlink. At this time CDE has excluded audio and video clips from our web site while we research the most efficient and cost-effective means for multimedia captioning. Thank you for your patience.
