Aligning Colorado's Education Accountability System
The Education Accountability Act (SB 09-163) was signed into law by Governor Ritter on May 21, 2009. Its purpose was to align conflicting accountability systems and create a common understanding of school, district, and state performance using the Colorado Growth Model as its cornerstone.
To fully align Colorado's accountability system, the federal AYP system under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 (now called the No Child Left Behind Act) must be revised during its reauthorization. Click here to read Colorado's proposed ESEA Accountability System.
